Social Media Trend That I Support!

Social media trends and cats… Oh my! There are few trends that I support, as many are more dangerous and cruel than we cat professionals would like to see. However, one recent trend that I’ve been loving is the idea of changing one thing in your home every day to spice up your cat’s daily enrichment. It’s such a simple thing to do, using everything you already have at home.

Here are some ideas to embrace this trend:

Rearrange a few scratchers or cardboard boxes.
Dump your paper recycling on the floor!
Move some chairs around.
Build a blanket fort.
Change where you normally hide their puzzle feeders.
Move cat tunnels to different rooms.

And now, because we always want to ensure we’re doing this with our cat’s best interests in mind, here are a few “not-to-dos”:

Don’t move key items like litterboxes, favourite beds, the cat tree in the window, etc. Anything that is part of their daily routine should stay put.
Be careful with very sensitive cats. If you try this and they approach the change with fear, this trend might not be right for your babes (see Purrsonalizing Cat Advice).
